I am Mark Lowe, an Iowa City West High class of 2013 graduate. I am also a junior college graduate with an AA degree in Sports Management. I've always played basketball but it was never to be taken seriously. That changed my freshman year of high school. I've had many great teachers since then that molded me into a mature well-balanced player. Defense was my specialty. The most credit goes to the varsity coach Steve Bergman, the varsity assistant Gordon Rosenquist, as well as, Jason Price and Duez Henderson from Iowa Pump N Run AAu. Together these men advanced my game in every aspect of basketball. They taught me how to play the right way. I played a couple years of AAu for Bound 4 Glory or Iowa Pump N Run and in a couple of recreational leagues/clinics. My junior and senior year of high school we won the state championship in Iowa with undefeated seasons. We never lost for two summers and two seasons straight which set the record for most consecutive wins in the state of Iowa three games into the next season. I was set up very well for basketball at the next level with the lessons and knowledge that was given to me by my coaches and mentors. I was very coachable and paid close attention to detail. After high school, I went on to play at a division II NJCAA junior college. During those years, I did a lot of training, coaching and officiating from ages seven to high schoolers. The connections I built with the families and players gave off a new energy I've never felt before. I enjoyed being the kids' mentor and developing their skills. It was then I realized how much of a passion I had for it. I decided to get into coaching after finished my last year of junior college. With an AA degree in Sports Management, I received my coaching license. Since graduation, I've had hands on experience in the AAu circuit and have helped elementary, junior high and high school athletes with training and skill work. I plan to expand my knowledge while giving some back to the community to help athletes sharpen up and improve their skill level. This academy gives athletes guidance to sharpen up the technique and fundamentals to be effective in every aspect of the game of basketball.
